2008: ACCESS STUDENTS – WORKING IN A DIGITAL WORLD

MORE THAN GED TEST PREPARATION – ACCESSS STUDENTS USE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY TO HONE 21ST CENTURY SKILLS

A SMALL, BUT COMMITTED GROUP OF STUDENTS MANAGED THEIR BUSY SCHOOL, WORK AND FAMILY RESPONSIBILITIES TO ENGAGE IN DISCUSSIONS ABOUT VIOLENCE PREVENTION. IT WAS CLEAR FROM OUR EARIEST DISCUSSIONS IN FEBRUARY 2008, THAT OUR PROJECT WOULD INVOLVE LEARNING HOW TO USE OF DIGITAL MOVIE EQUIPMENT AND I-MOVIE SOFTWARE FOR EDITING, DOING COMMUNITY SURVEYS BY CONDUCTING STREET INTERVIEWS, REFLECTING ON PRACTICE AND DOCUMENTING THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS IN PORTFOLIOS.

OUR ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO MEET OUR PRODUCTION DEADLINE AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING OUR WORK WITH THAT OF OTHER SCHOOLS WHEN WE HAVE OUR SCREENING OF PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS AT THE DONNELL LIBRARY ON JUNE 3.

Air Date
"BLOOD DIAMONDS....."
A look at the realities of the 'Blood Diamond' trade in Africa. We have an international panel of guests including Amnesty International joining us in the studio. Review of the movie in comparison with the political history made this a timely show.
PSA 1

CD 1 – “Diamonds on ma chain,” plays in the background.

Carlton calls Sheri; she picks up.

Sheri: Hey Boo!

Carlton: Hey baby, I just finished hosting a party at this club on
South Beach. Can you come and pick me up?
I’m at 1020 Beach Drive Road.

Sheri: Yeah, alright baby, just have something for me when
I get there.

Carlton: Don’t I always?

Sheri: You know diamonds are a girl’s best friend and I’m
going out of my way to do this.

Carlton: DIAMONDS!

Anton: A you talk bout diamonds ma youth. Hole on, hole on.
Mi have anything; mi tell ya, ya na listen my youth.
Mi have green, yellow, orange, purple. Mi have any
color ya want, ma youth.

Carlton: Anything? So let’s do this. I want anything. I don’t care.
My baby got to look fly. She already got ice on her ears,
arms, in her mouth. I just need a ring.
